Chris Doelle sits down to discuss the Lufkin Panthers Head Basketball team with their head coach, JT McManus.

In this interview, Coach J.T. McManus of the Lufkin Panthers reflects on his team’s 12-game winning streak, their recent tournament performance, and strategies. Despite the winning streak, McManus is cautious about not jinxing their success and emphasizes the importance of staying humble and focused. The coach details the challenges faced in the Porter game and the adjustments made during halftime to shift the pace. McManus highlights key players like Austin Brown, BJ Thomas, Bryson Skinner, and Jakevion Sanders, praising their contributions and the bench players for stepping up. He also discusses the demanding schedule, injury issues within the team, and the importance of film study though limited by time constraints. Looking ahead, McManus talks about upcoming games against Tyler and Hallsville, their long-standing rivalries, and the need to maintain good performance for district playoffs.

Hunger Action Heroes Podcast

Season 01, Episode 10

Amelia Lechuga - Food Bank of the Golden Crescent Founder
Frances Santellana - Chief Operations Officer

Each episode, host Chris Doelle sits down with someone playing a vital role in the Food Bank of the Golden Crescents mission of "Helping Heal the Hurt of Hunger."

Chris interviews Amelia Lechuga, the founder of the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, and Frances Santellana, the Chief Operations Officer. Amelia recounts how the food bank began in 1986 due to her experience working with hungry children at Children's Services. She discovered the concept of food banks and gradually built the organization with community support, overcoming numerous challenges. Frances joined Amelia early on, volunteering and later becoming a staff member. Both share stories of dedication, faith, and the community's role in growing the food bank from a small operation to a major organization serving multiple counties. They reflect on the rewarding and humbling experience of feeding thousands through perseverance and the belief that their mission was divinely inspired.
