The Marketing Drive

Short marketing message that you can use right now!

Show Notes:
In this episode of The Marketing Drive, host Chris Doelle discusses the value, or lack thereof, of AI certifications.

  • Chris argues that AI certifications are a complete waste of money. He notes that many companies have popped up offering these certifications, some charging as little as $27 and others as much as $4,000.
While some certifications may include rigorous tests, delve into topics like LLMs and AGI, and even require a keystone project, the value of these certifications is limited.
  • Chris highlights that the rapid pace of change in AI renders the knowledge gained from certifications quickly outdated. He mentions that even if someone was certified as a chief AI officer a short time ago, the information is likely no longer useful.
  • Chris emphasizes that he has taken several AI certifications himself for the information, but he does not promote himself based on certifications.
Instead of relying on certifications, Chris suggests focusing on real-world applications and problem-solving. He advises people to discuss specific company issues and explore how AI can streamline processes and improve profitability.
  • Chris draws a parallel to traditional education, noting that he learned more after high school and college than during his formal schooling. Similarly, he's learned more about AI after his certifications than from them.
  • Chris urges listeners not to get caught up in the idea of needing to be AI certified. He recommends utilizing free resources and collaborating with others in the AI field to learn effectively.
  • If hiring someone for AI help, Chris advises against prioritizing certifications that may be outdated. Instead, focus on hiring someone who is up to date on the current trends in AI.
  • Chris stresses the importance of continuously learning about AI to avoid falling behind, as the field is constantly evolving.
